Global migration, capitalism, and rise of racist nationalism

Problem: As you process content from this module, consider the following: We do not read Harsha Walia in this course, but in her book "Border & Rule: Global Migration, Capitalism, and the Rise of Racist Nationalism," she explores the politics of immigration in depth. A key argument she makes, worth bringing into our conversation here -- is that we must be critical of perspectives on immigration being painted by what is referred to as the "Left" and the "Right."Filtering immigration/asylum politics through a right-wing perspective suggests that (im)migrants are "stealing jobs" and filtered through a left-wing perspective immigrants are seen as "building the economy. Have you seen examples of solidarity and resistance in this current restrictive period? If so, share some examples. If not, what could/should solidarity and resistance look like now (in your opinion)? And if your position is that resistance in a restrictive period is unwarranted, please elaborate (backing up your perspective with evidence.) Where are you getting your sources of information from? (Be sure to reference a variety of sources, be specific with their names - i.e. names of publications, news outlets, etc.) What determines their credibility? (Revisit NAMLE handout on analyzing media and credibility.) What specific platforms, agencies, media are covering solidarity and protest (or not)? And when protests are covered, how are they being described/characterized and by whom? Answer. Need Assignment Help?
