Given they are also an established global powerhouse helped

Problem

You bring up a great point that your feelings on globalization would be different if you didn't live in Canada and weren't reaping the benefits of it. Living in a country that embraced globalization (for the most part) and has significantly benefited from it tends to shift our view slightly. But in that same vein, the US also benefits considerably from globalization and yet is terrified of it, choosing to roll out protectionist laws and fight to onshore many elements. We do see that here in Canada a little (the Sovereign act in Alberta comes to mind here), but the US seems to be having a great deal of trouble with it.

Given they are also an established global powerhouse and globalization has helped them as much as it has, why do you think that is?
