A Comparison of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychoanalysis in Treating Depression among Adults with Substance Use Disorders

Adults with a history of substance use disorders who receive cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) are more likely than those who receive psychoanalysis to show improvement in depressive symptoms.
Specific Research Questions - Given that the hypothesis is usually a broad statement, it is necessary that we use specific questions to delimit or guide the study. These questions generally relate to socio demo graphic factors (age, gender, marital status, ethnicity, level of education, etc.), which can also be potential confounding factors.
1. Does the level of depression vary by ethnicity?
2. Is there a statistically a significant difference between males and female with respect to level of depression?
3. Is there a statistically significant relationship between the age of the participants and the level of depression?
Theoretical or Conceptual Framework - In this section you are required to describe and explain a psychological theory, model or concept that supports the hypothesis, and helps to explain the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. For examples, theories/concepts that are relevant to the example given here are CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Psychoanalysis.
Study Rationale - In this section you are required to state the potential impact of this study. In other words, address the following:
1. Which subgroup is likely to benefit from the findings of this study?
2. What specific programs or interventions can be developed?
3. How will the particular subgroups be able to access the programs or interventions?
