Given how the president is so limited in the constitution

The presidential pardon is a very interesting power given to the president. If gives the president the power to either release someone completely of a crime or reduce their sentence for a crime. It has been used many times in very controversial ways, such as when then President Ford pardoned resigned Richard Nixon. Bill Clinton used it to pardon family members of crimes and George Bush used it to pardon international criminals of crimes against the United States. Given how the President is so limited in the Constitution, why do you think the Framers gave the executive such an abusable power?

Tell me what do you think about this?
