Give the measurement you obtained to the instructor he or

Analyzing the data For each of the settings chosen from the list in step 2, follow the instructions provided below.

a. Give the measurement you obtained to the instructor; he or she will provide you with the set of measurements for the class.

b. Construct a plot of these measurements that shows the shape of the distribution. Describe the shape of the distribution.

c. Construct a box plot for the set of measurements. Describe any interesting features of this box plot. Are there any outliers shown by the IQR rule used in box plots?

d. Find the mean of the measurements, and compare it to the median found for the box plot. Explain why these differ (if, indeed, they do).

e. Find the standard deviation of the measurements. Identify any observations that are more than two standard deviations away from the mean. Are these "unusual" observations the same ones identified by the box plot? Does the standard deviation appear to be a reasonable measure of variability for these data? f. Discuss the sources of variation for these measurements.
