Give an example of Numerator and Denominator?

Fractions represent parts of a whole object. Fractions are written using a horizontal line, with one number on top of the line and one number below the line.

For example, the fraction 3/4is read as either "3 divided by 4" or as "three fourths."

The top number, 3, is the numerator.
The bottom number, 4, is the denominator.
The horizontal line represents division (3 / 4).
If you split up a pizza into 4 slices, you are dividing a whole pizza into 4 parts.
Each of those parts is a fraction of the whole pizza, and that fraction is1/4.

Adding up all four pieces makes one whole pizza.

(1/4+1/4+1/4+1/4)=4/4 =1
The following are some examples of fractions and how they are read:

1/2is read as "one half."
1. 2/3is read as "two thirds."
2. 1/4is read as "one fourth."
3. 3/4is read as "three fourths."

Keep in Mind:

1. A numerator can be any whole number (0, 1, 2, 3, 4,...) and a denominator can be any natural number (1, 2, 3, 4, 5...).
2. A denominator can NEVER be zero!
3. If the numerator and the denominator are the same, the fraction is equal to 1. For example,

(2/2 = 1, 5/5 = 1, 1 pizza/1 pizza = 1)
