Each essay should be three to five pages in length, double-spaced, using Arial 12 font (American Military University's standard font). You are expected to submit a graduate-level quality paper using a commonly accepted format, style and documentation (Chicago Manual of Style) Essay 1: In Robert Dahl's article, "James Madison Republican or Democrat," Dahl gives interpretations and insight on 4 questions that Madison "regularly sought" to answer: 1) What is the new system of government to be called?; 2) Does a common good exist and, if so, can we know what it is?; 3) What are the major threats to achieving the common good?; and 4) Can these threats be overcome and, if so, how? Do you agree or disagree with Dahl's interpretations of Madison's positions on each of these questions? Give a brief explanation of why or why not, and be sure to address each of the four questions that comprise this problem.
