Geoff rhee a sophomore student at a philippine-based

Geoff Rhee, a sophomore student at a Philippine-based university, applied for a six-month student exchange program at two universities in Singapore. After passing the rigorous screening process at both universities, he received an invitation for interview at the sponsoring universities. Both universities offered to cover his expenses (travel, hotel accommodation, and meals). He scheduled the interview for both universities on the same day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. At the conclusion of each interview, he submitted a photocopy of the receipts for the following: round-trip regular economy airfare – USD 400; hotel accommodation for two days and one night (including airport transfer and buffet breakfast) – USD 330; meals and transportation to university from hotel and vice versa – SGD 50 for a total of USD 766. Geoff believes this approach is appropriate. If he had made two trips, his cost would have been twice as much. He is also certain that neither university knew he had visited the other on that same trip. Within 10 days, Geoff received two checks in the mail, each for the amount of USD 766. [Note: USD – US dollar; SGD – Singapore dollar; 1 USD = PhP 47.80 ; 1 SGD = PhP 35.07]
