Elena Schneiders Discussion For me personally being ethical as the act of doing the right things always even if no one is there to watch or supervise you.

In general being ethical is whereby someone adheres to personal standards which he or she has established for him/herself or it may be some set of policies and standards established by the community or an organization which a person has to follow.

This can be a decision of being honest always, a good example is where we as students so as to remain ethical we are supposed to avoid plagiarism (Crane., 2016).In a professional environment being ethical is where a person should acknowledge that he/she should not take credit for the work that is done by another person.

Ethics both in the professional environment and in someone's personal life is evident where a person decides to always live with integrity and also treat others with good heart regardless of their status, race or their cultural differences. At my workplace, one of the employees was caught doing his personal work during work time.

The employee was using the organizational network to chat with her relatives and friends in social media sites which is not allowed in the organization (Dewey, & John, 2016).

From that point the CEO of the organization decided that if an employee is caught using work time at his/her on benefits he/she will be suspended and his/her salary will be deducted from the amount of time he/she was caught using work time for his/her personal gains and also policy and rules were established so as to emphasize the matter.

It is not easy to try stay away from temptations such Wikipedia and Google, when our First Lady plagiariged her most important speech in front of million people. So much about leading my example, isn't it?

In college, ethics is being taught as a unit and for this reason students are taught of the importance of being ethically correct in the workplace and also in their personal lives and thus me being one of the students, this has really changed me because at this point in my life I also try to be honest in everything that I do whether at school, at home or even in my leisure time with my friends (Mitchell, 2017).

A college educated person is a person who is learned and thus he/she has better critical thinking than a person who is not learned and for this reason the society will always recommend people who are learned to perform the different duties in the society because they believe that people who have attained college education are in better position to perform those duties in an ethical manner and also in the manner which is expected.
