Gampel introduces the CARVE principles, which stand for Consequences, Autonomy, Rights, Virtues, and Equality. It's like a roadmap for ethical decision-making. So, breaking it down: Firstly, gathering all the necessary information related to the situation, considering everything from risks and medical conditions to legal aspects and cultural factors. Then, create a pros and cons list for each possible option, linking them to ethical principles like rights, virtue, and autonomy. Evaluate the strength of each reason, considering assumptions related to facts and values, and don't forget to account for potential cultural or religious differences. Finally, justify the morally preferable option by explaining why the reasons supporting it are more convincing, considering both factual and value-based issues. In conclusion, the Dalai Lama's emphasis on love and compassion is similar to my own moral values.
