Funder: Happy Go Lucky Foundation, a private foundation started in 2011 with the mission of improving health and human services in Tennessee.

Grant Amount: $25,000 per year for three (3) years

Grant Focus: Three interconnected issues that represent the biggest levers in permanently moving individuals and families out of poverty- housing, education and jobs. Through our grants we want to increase housing stability, improve educational achievement and ensure financial stability. When applying for a grant, you only need to address one of the following funding priorities.

Criteria to Apply:

  • Increasing Housing Stability: Support for individuals and families who are homeless to quickly obtain housing and have ongoing access to the supportive services needed to retain that housing. This is accomplished by focusing on three strategies: rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, and policy and advocacy work.
  • Improving Educational Achievement: Funding to support programs that increase the high school graduation rate and ensure every graduate is prepared for college and the workforce. Our focus is in secondary education, primarily in the middle school arena. We are focusing on those organizations engaging in academic support, such as after school programming as well as parent and student engagement activities associated with parent and student education, training and organizing.
  • Ensuring Financial Stability: Long-term building blocks to financial stability and success are achievable for people at all income levels. We are focused on helping individuals access employment and asset building resources by focusing on two initiatives of workforce development and asset building, which can enable families to tap into all of the services and supports for which they qualify.

To Apply: Your application must include the following items:

Cover letter - The cover letter should include the mission of your organization, a brief outline of the program for which you are seeking funds and how it relates to our mission, contact information, and service area.

Grant Proposal - In three to four pages (double-spaced), provide detailed information on the program you wish to have funded, outlined as followed:

  • Program - what does the program do, how is it run, are there guiding principles that suggest it will be successful
