FUNCTIONS OF MITOCHONDRIA
Cell Oxidation - Mitochondria plays an important role in ATP synthesis during aerobic respiration. Mitochondria are known as Power house of cell because they store energy in form of ATP. ATP is energy currency. In ATP two high energy bonds are present which are called pyrophosphatase bonds.
Mitochondria help in Vitellogenesis in oocytes, Mitochondrial Kinase makes the yolk viscous and insoluble for a longer duration storage. Mitochondria of oocytes called Yolk nuclei.
