Fulfillment of promise of civil rights in america

Assignment:

Fulfillment of the promise of civil rights in America. In keeping with that theme, use the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as a blueprint and write a short piece of legislation that would give civil rights to a group/people who today do not have their civil right fully protected by legislation.

Coming out of the Jim Crow Era and getting its start with the Liberalism of the Roosevelt Era, America has begun the process of becoming a nation for many, instead of nation for a select few. The Civil Rights movement started at the beginning of the 20th Century, but started to really gain traction in the 1950s. With groups like the NAACP, CORE, and with religious leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, the 1960s saw significant change for people of color.

Working closely with the Kennedy administration, and after his assassination, with the Johnson Administration, the Civil Rights movement was able to make gains. One of the major gains of this period was the Civil Rights Act of 1964. For the first time in federal law, many of the freedoms that were promised after the Civil War were guaranteed and actionable if not fulfilled.

Write summary of the Civil Right Act of 1964, https://www.archives.gov/education/lessons/civil-rights-act. As well, I would like you to review the actual legislation, https://catalog.archives.gov/id/299891. With this information, you will be able to fully see what was won with this historic piece of legislation.

Your answer must be in 500 words, typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman font (size 12), one-inch margins on all sides, APA format.
