He also posits that we unconsciously "play out" those conflicted feelings in our adult behaviors. Show how one character from "Long Day's Journey into Night" (Eugene O'neill) and one character from "The Yellow Wallpaper" (Charlotte Perkins Gilman) are just doing this, creating conflicts/struggles for themselves and/or others.
