A convention center is considering expanding its facilities to include at least 5 small (400 sq ft) conference room, 10 medium (750 sq ft) conference rooms, and 15 large (1050 sq ft) conference rooms. The cost of this expansion is $18,000 for each small conference room, $33,000 for each medium conference room and $45,150 for each large conference room. The budget for this project is limited to one million dollars and the expansion space to 25,000 sq ft. The first goal of the company is to meet the expansion targets for small, medium and large conference rooms with highest priority to the large rooms, followed by the medium rooms and finally the small rooms. As a second goal, the company does not want to exceed the space allocated for expansion and finally its third goal is not go over budget. a) Formulate a goal program to help the company meet its goals according to the given priorities. Clearly define your decision variables, constraints and objective(s) b) Implement the model in Excel and solve it to find the solution. Make sure that you save each scenario or iteration as a separate sheet (within the same file) and include a snapshot of your solution in the report.
