In the article, "Experimental studies of forensic odontology to aid in the identification process" by Susmita Saxeona, Preeti Sharma, and Nitin Gupta (2010), states forensic odontology also refers to forensic dentistry that involves bite mark physical evidences and scientist use the bite mark to identify and compare the dental record of the victim or suspect. Forensic odontology identifies the person (recognizable or nor recognizable) and analysis bite mark evidence, of child abuse, civil ligation and massacre in a criminal case (Saxeona, Sharma & Gupta, 2010).
