CRITICAL THINKING -

For this entry you will be analyzing a short text in terms of its use of language.

The text can be anything you wish: a political speech, advertisement or other marketing text, social media post etc. (Make sure that you provide the link to the text at the bottom of your entry, or that you copy the full text in there.) The text must contain at least one example of the following: euphemism, jargon, gobbledygook, hedging, or weasel words. (Because we looked at false implication in detail in class, you should not use it for this blog.)

Make sure that you look closely at specific words/phrases. For each, identify what form of language usage it represents (euphemism, jargon etc.) Then briefly analyze it. What is the effect of the language use? Remember that the purpose of the blog is to demonstrate your understanding of class material and the Carroll reading.  You will probably want to focus on just a few of the terms we discussed in class --perhaps even just one.

Your entry should be approximately 350 words long. The writing can be quite informal, as long as it is clear, structured, and aims to be free of errors. See the blog rubric for details on how the entry will be assessed

The definitions of "euphemism, jargon, gobbledygook, hedging, or weasel words" is attached. READ FIRST and then go look for an article.
