For higher current rating application, resistance wires with extremely large cross sections are required. The necessary large cross sections are produced in the form of resistance grid. These grids are either cast from iron or stamped from a suitable grade of alloyed stainless steel. These are then assembled by having series and parallel connections into resistor banks of the appropriate resistance and current rating.
