This course contains a written assignment that must be completed by students. It is worth 15% of your final? mark and will be completed in two phases.
Part A is a report plan. Worth 3% of your final mark, you will be expected to show your research sources and a plan on how you expect to set out your report. This will be due a week before the report is due.
Part B is worth 12% of your final mark. It will be a ~1000 word report. In this case, you will be producing a report on Surfactants.
You will be expected to research surfactants. What is a surfactant? How is a surfactant formed? Show the chemical process for a common surfactant.
What are some common uses of surfactants?
You will also look into common household surfactants. You will also discuss one or two industrial uses from the following:
• Mining and ore extraction
• Textile industry
• Food Industry
• Petroleum
Discuss the uses in these industries.
