Five benefits of pals for students

Visit the IRIS Learning Center (https://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/palsk1/chalcycle.htm). Familiarize yourself with the IRIS website by clicking the "Navigating an IRIS Module" located on the right side of the webpage. Next, complete each section of the learning module titled, "PALS: A Reading Strategy for Grades K-1." Submit a two- to three-page paper (not including title and reference pages) that includes the following information:

- Describe five benefits of PALS for the students and the teachers.

- Compare and contrast the particular reading skills addressed by K-PALS and first-grade PALS and the differences in recommended techniques of grouping for K-PALS versus the recommended grouping method for first grader PALS.

- Imagine that you are a kindergarten teacher implementing PALS. In your class of 20 students, one is absent, leaving one student without a partner. How would you ensure that each student could participate in your regularly scheduled K-PALS session?

- Imagine you are a first-grade teacher, and you are planning to implement PALS for the first time. What two steps might you take to promote a healthy team environment? At a minimum, use one external source, in addition to the course text.
