Assignment - Group Analysis Paper
Instructions: Life requires us to work in groups to complete tasks. For this assignment, you will reflect on a recent group you participated in, such as for other school classes, work or religious groups. Your paper should be structured as follows:
Introduction: First, write a brief introduction discussing the purpose of your group, a brief description of your group members (you may change names for privacy), and discussing the general tasks (activities) your group accomplished.
Body: Next, describe the interaction and dynamics that occurred in your small group by discussing the following small group variables:
Paragraph one of the body:
- What type of group was it?
- How was the group formed? Discuss at least one stage of group development from your text.
Paragraph two of the body:
- Define task and procedural roles. Who filled these various roles in your group? Did these roles and the people who filled them change during the course of the group? Use examples to discuss the various roles.
Paragraph three of the body:
- Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your group in terms of healthy groups as described in chapter 9.
- Identify your weaknesses and strengths as a group member. Use specific examples to support your opinion.
Conclude your paper by discussing how your future group interactions will be affected by what you have learned in this course.
