Gender Gap in Universities
This problem concerns the increasing gender gap in the UK universities. The Guardian surveyed and collected data on various students pursuing higher studies in different subject areas.
Reported in the table are the number of students in various subject areas and the number of female students in those subject areas.
Assume that the association between the number of students in different subject areas and the number of female students in those subject areas is linear enough to proceed.
Find the regression equation for predicting female students from the number of students in a subject area and report it. Interpret the sign of the slope clearly.
