Find pre 1960 comics at the digital comic museum


The paper must compare two comics, one from between 1938-1959 and one published after 2000. They should be of the same genre – so both should be crime comics, or both science fiction comics, or both superhero comics, or? On the superhero front, you can compare two comics of the same superhero, or comics with two different superheroes.

Your paper should:

Have a title, a clear opening paragraph that says what the paper covers, and a clear concluding paragraph that sums up what you have argued in your comparison.

More importantly, it must compare the pre-1960 and post-2000 comics you choose on each of the following points:

1) Intended audience (give specific examples from each comic to make your case);

2) Quality/nature of artwork;

3) Evidence within paper that gives some clues about when the comic was created (separate from the publication date!);

4) Whether or not the story seems likely to be accessible to a new reader.

You can spend much more time on some of these issues than on others, that is up to you, but each topic listed here should be discussed. You can also compare the comics on other issues, as seems relevant to you based on the comics themselves and your interests.
