A-36 steel rod ( ALPHA = 6.6 1/F , E= 29E3 Ksi) has diameter 0.25 in. The rod is 4 ft long when t = 40 F and there is no comression in the springs(K=1000 LB/in). what is the force in the rod and the change in length when the temperature rises to 160 F?
