A rubber cylinder of diameter d is compressed inside a steel cylinder by a force F. (a) Obtain a formula for the lateral pressure p between the rubber and the steel. Express p in terms of F,D, and Poisson's ration v for the rubber. (b) What is the apparent modulus of elasticity (sigmay/epsilony) in terms of the modulus of elasticity E and Poisson's ratio of rubber?

The steel container is a U shaped box with the rubber inside. F acts directly downward and d is the diameter of the rubber inside. You can also disregard friction between the rubber and the steel, and assume that the steel cylinder is rigid.
