Find the angle between the cue balls original direction of

1- In a game of pool, the cue ball struck another ball of the same mass that was initially at rest. After the collision, the cue ball moved off at 3.30 m/s along a line that was at 18° from the cue ball's original path. The second ball had a speed of 2.20 m/s after the collision.

a) Find the angle between the cue ball's original direction of motion and the second ball's direction of motion after the collision.

b) Find the original speed of the cue ball.

c) If the mass of the cue ball is 0.150 kg, what is the change in kinetic energy?

2- Two billiard balls of equal mass were moving at right angles when they collided. Initially ball A had velocity VA= (2.0 j) m/s and ball B had velocity VB=(3.7 i) m/s. After the elastic collision, ball B moved off in the +j direction.

a) Determine the final direction of ball A.

b) Determine the final speeds of each ball.

3- A 12.0 kg block moves in a straight line on a horizontal, frictionless surface under the influence of a force that varies with position as shown below. How much work is done by the force as the block moves from the origin to x = 8.0 m?
