A circular cylinder of diameter d is placed in a uniform stream of fluid as shown in Fig. a. Far from the cylinder the velocity is V and the pressure is atmospheric. The gage pressure, p, at point A on the cylinder surface is to be determined from a model study for an 18-in.-diameter prototype placed in an air stream having a speed of 8 ft/s. A 1/12 scale model is to be used with water as the working fluid. Some experimental data obtained from the model are shown in Fig. b. Predict the prototype pressure. Assume Reynolds number similarity.
