There are various ways of communicating information to an audience. Advertising is a means of relaying information in a way that is persuasive to the intended user of a certain product, an idea or even a service by recognized sponsors through a variety of media (Boggs, 29). Movie advertisements, for example, use both the image and sound elements to communicate the intended message. However, much of the truth in the movies is misrepresented in order to create suspense and attract a large number of viewers. Movies may be classified in the order of their contents for example horror movies, action movies, comedy movies amongst others (Cardullo, 16).

The way the movie reviews and adverts are placed in the media is exaggerated to create a sense of liking to the viewers. For instance, in a horror movie, you may find the characters assuming different forms like transforming into an ugly creature. This phenomenon is not practical in the real world and is only achieved through computer modeling (Cardullo, 39). Action movies, usually, paint a false image of the character as a war hero who can conquer a thousand enemies alone. However, comedy movies require the character to use their personal talent and artistic nature to keep the audience entertained (Vineberg, 27). For example, movies based on stand up comedies are very realistic as the characters apply their artistic nature and talents to keep the audience entertained. The messages appearing on their adverts have an element of originality and practical in the real world (Boggs, 46).

The misrepresentation of truths in the horror and action movie adverts is important to create a longing for the audience to purchase and watch the full movie. The viewers will build up suspense from the adverts and develop an urge to purchase the movie. However, the truth in advertising the comedy movies should not be exaggerated (Vineberg, 52). Comedies are mainly founded on personal innovation and to encourage the same; it is recommendable to avoid misrepresenting the truth when placing an advert for a comedy movie (Kehr, 56).
