Extended Time Out in Operation Rooms
This essay is talking about the extended time out in the operation room at UH, I have a rubric for it and it asked for a patient scenario, which in my case is the patient is allergic to epinephrine, but it was not documented in the EMR. The patient told the circulating nurse that she is allergic to the drug. However, the circulating nurse was disturbed by sth when doing the interview, so she did not have a chance to write that done. Then in the operation room, the circulating nurse gave the 0.5% lidocaine with epinephrine as local. Luckily we found out during the second time out when we were confirming of the allergies, and nothing bad happened.
