Problem: Read this passage and how will you respond
1. You are the nurse's coworker coming to help in the hallway. What actions would you take?
2. What are possible explanations of the patient's condition post ambulation? Need Assignment Help?
Mr. Hane has a number of risk factors when it comes to falling. Firstly is obviously the nature of his injury, a damaged knee can make walking very difficult and painful. Secondly, is naturally his age, at 80 years old Mr. Hane is at a very high risk for falling and will likely suffer worse injury than a younger person if he does happen to fall. He is at this higher risk because having an advanced age causes varying levels of sensory and cognitive decline. Before starting the ambulation process, the healthcare team should ensure the room is well lit and there is no clutter or obstacles in the path of the ambulating individual. The nurse should ensure the patient is comfortable and mentally prepared to move as well as being aware of the task and being informed exactly what will happen. The patient should already be familiar with how to use his cane but the nurse should always double check to make sure.
