Explaining the reasons for the food crisis in africa is no

Explaining the reasons for the food crisis in Africa is no easy task. The problems have been growing for many years and are nearly impossible to turn back now. Some of the problems are man-made and others are natural and beyond man's control while still others are natural and yet not unmanageable if the right tools are used.

Geography and weather has never really been kind to Africa as a whole. Numerous deserts result in hundreds of thousands of square miles of useless land as far as agriculture is concerned. Mountain ranges block of moisture from the ocean from getting inland but cause the clouds to drop all their precipitation on the windward side of the mountains living the interior of the continent dry and parched.

While drought is a very common fact of life in Africa, floods are a not so common but equally devastating natural disaster especially when they follow years of drought. This curse of weather is affecting Africa right now. Parts of Africa have experienced numerous years of drought and now this year they are being plagued with flooding.
