Problem 1: In the history of research, there have unfortunately been many examples of unethical studies (some of which are covered by our text). We should learn from these examples, and determine to not repeat the mistakes that were made. This is one of the reasons for an Institutional Review Board (IRB) at universities.
Problem 2: Explain your understanding of the importance of the IRB process. Why do researchers have to go through IRB review prior to starting data collection from human subjects?
