Explain your rankings of the “most offensive” and the “least offensive” characters in the Alligator River Story. State in 1 paragraph each why you rated the 5 persons to be  “most” and “least” offensive in the story.

Example from another student:

1 (Most Offensive) -  Sinbad:  He was in a position to help someone who asked him for a favor.  He decided not to provide a kind gesture but instead took advantage of someone that was in desperation and most likely not in the right frame of mind.  His actions were calculated and malicious especially after she refused the first time but then returned willing to accept the deal.

2 Cindy - This was simply a nice dinner being cooked by Bill.  It was not a wedding or extremely important event.  She could have called and notified him of the issue and worked together to find a solution.  She initially declined the offer from Sinbad but was unable to see the long term effects of her actions with Sinbad and how they would affect her relationship with Bill.  She had to have known that he would not look kindly to what happened.  This was a pre-meditated action and even more offensive because of so.

3. Slug -  He acted impulsively without hearing the entire story and without considering all those involved.  His actions were on the far end of the violence spectrum when he could have resulted in much more peaceful means of expressing disgust with Bill.  If he had heard the entire story then he may have even sympathized with Bill and turned towards Sinbad.

4. Bill - Overall he was portraying genuine feelings and emotions.  It is hard to blame him for his reactions to Cindy's actions with Sinbad (assuming they were intimate).  Either way his reaction was harsh and not very understanding.  Ideally he would have still gotten upset but would have been able to sit down and discuss the key issues with Cindy.

5. (Least Offensive) Ivana - Although not the friendliest of actions, she is friends with Cindy and had her reasons for not wanting to get involved with the entire fiasco.  If we knew more about Cindy's past then a better assessment of Ivana's actions could be done.
