Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is for student to demonstrate knowledge and purpose of databases and to include database terms and data dictionary. This knowledge will promote students' success in future graduate courses. No more than 5 pages in length (excludes cover page, references and any tables/charts).
Objectives:
1. Demonstrate how nursing problems may be answered through databases.
2. Exhibit knowledge of database terms.
3. Develop a data dictionary.
Key Points of the Assignment:
• Describe a nursing problem (2-3 paragraphs)
• Reference at least two peer reviewed journal articles noting the nursing problem.
• Describe what question is to be answered by the database.
• Describe in a narrative format the information needed to answer the question.
• List the data elements needed organized into at least 2 tables.
• Describe and explain why you have chosen the relationship between the tables. You also must draw the relationship between the tables using the notational symbols with lines joining the tables.
• Complete a data dictionary. Note the primary key, and as appropriate, foreign key for each table. Include the following categories in this dictionary.
a. Field Name
b. Field Description
c. Source of Data
d. Table
e. Source of Data (How entered)
f. Field Type
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
3. Also Include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
