Explain why using the findings of a systematic review

Problem

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many workers shifted to work-from-home arrangements. Some workers still work from home after the public health concerns have decreased. One concern in your company is that, according to research, during working hours, sedentary behaviour times are longer in work-from-home groups than in non-work-from-home employees. In a meeting on this topic, research was presented that sedentary behaviors are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, depression, and anxiety. The occupational health and safety committee is interested in increasing physical activity among workers returning to offices, as well as those who will maintain some form of work-from-home arrangement. One popular recommendation in this meeting was to provide employees with wearable activity monitors and/or mobile apps (categorized among mHealth interventions) to promote physical activity. As the chief occupational health and safety professional in this company, you have been tasked to look into the effectiveness of these interventions. Assuming this situation, answer the following questions:

i. Based on the descriptions of the situation, is the occupational health and safety approach in this organization pathogenic or salutogenic? Briefly explain why.

ii. Explain why using the findings of a systematic review increases your confidence in the decision regarding the suggested interventions.
