Explain why ch peaks are so large compared to the water


At room temp when the FTIR spectrum of n-octadecane is collected, there are some sharp peaks due to atmospheric water at >3400 cm^-1. There are also broad CH peaks around the 2900 cm^-1. Explain why CH peaks are so large compared to the water OH peaks.
