Look up the Thirteenth Amendment and read it. Considering it permitted slavery if punished by a crime, the creation of the Black Laws and Black Codes in the southern states and President Andrew Johnson's request to southern states to rewrite their own state constitutions after Lincoln's assassination, the Thirteenth Amendment made way for slavery to continue after the Civil War.
After watching the Netflix documentary called, 13th or Thirteenth, explain what the impact of this amendment was following the Civil War and is today for Blacks in America.
