You are the nursing student who are placed in aged care and are presenting a patient with dementia. You have noted that music therapy seems to be having a wonderful impact on this patient, therefore you may wish to explore the use of music therapy in dementia on this patient:
This patient is Mrs. P, female, 98 years old and become increasingly aggressive, agitated, anxiety and distressed.
This patient is having pain due to arthritis, constipation for about 7 days, personality and behaviour changes, progressive and frequently memory loss: the patient usually walks into other patient's rooms, reduce the ability to perform everyday tasks.
Relevant medical history: Has been diagnosed dementia, arthritis, left heart failure and a history of atrial fibrillation.
Social history: the patient has been a very busy, well-educated, and social people
The patient lived alone until she was 89 years old. Recently, Mr. P found that it is difficult to manage her daily live and decided to move to the aged care home 1 and a half years ago.
The patient has 2 sons who both live nearby her.
