Two weeks later, Dominique received a notice informing her that the applications were being reviewed and that she would have to come in for an interview before she could get approval of her adjustment of status. Dominique and her husband are asked to appear for a videotaped interview for adjustment of status to that of a permanent residence. Three weeks after the interview, she received another notice saying that her application for permanent residency was approved. Further, the second notice said that if she did not receive her Alien Registration Receipt Card within 270 days from the date of the second notice, she may call up 214-655-1500 to check the status of her case. The document also advised her that she may obtain a temporary Alien Registration Card stamp, I-551, in her passport at the Immigration Office on Wednesdays between 8:00 A.M. and noon. To get the I-551 stamp, she would need to submit proof of identification, with the original approval letter, and her valid passport. Dominique received her Alien Registration Receipt Card within two weeks.
Visit www.uscis.gov to find out what such an interview involves and what its purpose is. In addition, find out what documents the couple would have to carry along for the interview. One of the documents is the Medical Report Form. Find out the list of doctors who are approved by USCIS for Dominique's area, and provide her with the list so that she can visit them prior to the interview.
Under the supervision of your attorney, draft a 400-700 word letter in a Word Document to Dominique to explain the purpose of the interview, suggest how Dominique and her husband can prepare themselves, and inform them what extra documents they need to bring to the
Immigration Office in case they require some additional information. Include in a Word document a list of all the documents and forms they need to bring for their interview.
