Application Assignment - Role Playing
Consider the following scenario (based on a real situation):
A car dealership plans to construct a new facility on a highway in front of an established development. Zoning for the property is not the issue. However, the development is populated by families with young children, and elderly couples. The concerns are:
1. The lighting from the dealership will bother people at night.
2. The noise from the loudspeakers will disturb people in the daytime.
3. The dealership plans to use the development for test drives.
4. There will be increased traffic congestion.
The county development agency is sponsoring a meeting to enable interested parties to put forth their case for or against the dealership. In this exercise please pick one of the following individuals and put forth that person's case as fully as you can taking into account the others present:
• The car dealership owner
• An elderly resident of the community
• A mother with two young children residing directly behind the dealership site
• The county development board members
• The owner of a McDonalds just up the street from the dealership
Be sure to clearly identify which person's case you are presenting. This assignment should be approximately 1 page in length and be written in essay format.
