Explain the killers actions and reasons why

Problem

The chapter introduces many theories and perspectives into the mind of a criminal. It's one thing to read academic literature on the topic of how a criminal's mind works, however, it's quite harrowing to hear it directly from the criminal him/herself. As you see, I have posted MANY videos below. You are NOT required to watch them all. I simply wanted you to have choices. CHOOSE ONE notorious serial killer from below - whichever one tweaks you the most. Watch the video/videos posted for your chosen person. Pick one of the MANY perspectives discussed within the chapter. Use your theory to explain the actions of the killer. For example: I may use Freud's psychoanalytic perspective in an attempt to explain Ted Bundy. I could also attempt to explain his behavior through Stanton Samenow's branch of cognitive theory, the Criminal Mind-Set. Which one fits best? Do either of them fit? (This is only an EXAMPLE. Make your own choices concerning people and theories).

And then... Does your particular theory/theories help explain the killer's actions and reasons why? Does the theory/theories fail to explain everything about the killer's behavior? Where does it fail, if it does? Elaborate on your answer.

If you were assigned as the defense attorney, would the "Guilty by reason of insanity" plea be justifiable in the case of your chosen person? Why or why not? How would you defend your client? How would you attempt to keep them off death row?
