Following are guidelines for the submission of assignment.
- Use size A4 paper and leave at least a 3 cm margin. This is the best format for both marking and photocopying.
- Number each page of the assignment.
- Make a duplicate copy of each assignment. This overcomes any problems should your assignments ever be lost in transit even though this rarely happens.

Assessment 2

Research Case Study:

Netronics Enterprises is a mobile apps development company with 3 offices in the Australia. Head office is located in Sydney Australia and offices in Melbourne, Brisbane.

Netronics has undergone an excellent growth and recently expanded in Brisbane. The company has acquired two 10m by 10m office and a 3m by 3m space which it intends to use as the server room. Remember to accommodate this as the 3rd remote site in your network design.
All these offices have access to the internet at very high speeds. Currently, each of these offices has its own local area network. Currently there is no network in Brisbane.

In recent times, the management has decided to implement an Enterprise-wide or wide area network that will provide data connectivity to its entire site.

Netronics Plan

Netronics will have 5 staff working in Brisbane, 5 days a week. There are 2 rooms in the office. Office has a reception area where 1 staff member will be present during office times. IT staff have separate rooms. There will be one I.T personal workings at any given time during office hours.

Your Tasks:

1. Identify the different network segments, i.e. LAN and/or WLAN and/or VPN of the proposed WAN network. Then, design a network diagram (Wide Area Network) that includes a WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) for the Brisbane Office based on the scenario, including physical and logical layout. As well as, consider how features of the physical environment affect the WAN design.

Assume the Offices are located as such:
a. Office 1 on ground floor
b. Office 2 on first floor
c. Server room on first floor
d. 20 PC's (current standard) overall for both office (your choice of layout)

2. Determine the network segment needs, estimate traffic content and volumes for the above scenario. i.e. how many of switches, routers, NIC cards, physical cables, network traffics, and what kind?

3. Determine the resource requirements for the network segments, i.e. for each LAN or WLAN or VPN based on functional analysis and estimate the costs associated for the implementation; and develop an organisational WAN functional matrix.

4. Choose and document a suitable WAN service according to network traffic expected to access the WAN, which also include a redundant link in the proposed WAN connectivity for the link backup purpose or in case the main link is disrupted.
