That's the opening bit from this week's learning objectives and it's a good one. Context, as we've said from the beginning is the one way to study art. We have to have some insight into a the culture of the moment to understand the art of the moment. However, great art transcends the moment, it's still great a thousand years after it was created, even if we know nothing about Ancient Greece.
