Explain the importance of money to Gatsby in the novel.

-Gatsby needed money to recreate the past and win the love of Daisy
-"Rich girls can not marry poor boys" Gatsby lost love of his life due to lack of money but now he is rich he believes he can impress and make Daisy comprehend how wealthy he is
- Used money to try and impress Daisy by
1. during reunion the silver shirt and goldtie
2. lavish parties
3. Showing off his mansion and Englishshirts
- Ironic how Gatsby selects life of illegal activities to get money, to get woman he loves, which he never gets
