Assignment: Network Research Project
You have been hired as part of the networking team at UMUC. After completing orientation and training, your manager calls you into a meeting to discuss your first project.
The University is interested in creating a repository of networking knowledge based on research papers. The research papers will be drafted by all employees, and you may select from a list of approved topics. As a junior network engineer, you are asked to prepare a research paper that best aligns with your interests. The approved research topics include:
1) Compare and contrast the characteristics of network topologies, types and technologies.
2) Summarize cloud concepts and their purposes.
3) Explain devices, applications, protocols and services at their appropriate OSI layers.
4) Explain the functions of network services.
5) Explain the purposes of virtualization and network storage technologies.
6) Compare and contrast business continuity and disaster recovery concepts.
7) Explain common scanning, monitoring and patching processes and summarize their expected outputs.
8) Explain authentication and access controls.
9) Compare and contrast network policies and best practices.
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
i) The answer should be typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides.
ii) The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
iii) Also include a reference page. The Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
