explain the frame members effective lengths1

Explain the Frame member's effective lengths

1. Effective length is a product of an effective length factor (k) and the actual length of the column.

2. k depends on the relative stiffness of the columns/beams at the ends of the column and if the frame is braced/unbraced.

3. The Jackson and Moreland alignment chart is used to determine the effective length factor (k).
