Explain the Composition of Bile
Bile is a complex fluid. It is yellowish green in colour and bitter in taste. It consists of:
- Water
- Mineral salts (chloride, potassium and calcium, carbonate and phosphate of sodium)
- Mucus
- Bile salts (sodium glycocholate, sodium taurocholate)
- Bile pigments (bilirubin and biliverdin)
- Cholesterol, and
- Traces of fatty acids
