One of the main concepts of economics essentially deals with constrained choices which people make, based on process of subjectively weighing perceived costs and perceived benefits of future possible actions.

If people are always weighing costs against benefits, and making selections which presumably benefit themselves, does this mean which economics suppose that people are selfish? Explain the relationship between selfishness and economic reasoning?
