explain meso stereoisomera for a molecule to have

Explain meso stereoisomer

a) For a molecule to have a meso stereoisomer, it must have more than single asymmetric atom, and it must be divisible into constitutionally identical halves (that is, halves that have the similar connectivities relative to the dividing line). By these criteria, compound (a) does possess a meso stereoisomer.

(b) This compound does not have a meso stereoisomer. A meso compound must have at least two asymmetric carbons.
