Part 1
In this Assignment you will install and configure Active Directory on your Windows 2008 server. After Active
Directory is installed, you will create objects using Active Directory Users and Computers.
1-1. Install Active Directory on your Windows Server 2008 system by initiating the dcpromo process (Take a
screenshot of Active Directory Users and Computers with domain view).
1-2. View SYSVOL and subdirectories (Take a screenshot).
1-3. Research the American mathematician Claude Elwood Shannon. Create a test user in the Users
container. Name the user Claude Shannon (username CShannon). Create a security group called Binary.
Add CShannon as a member to the Binary group (Take a screenshot).
1-4. Describe LDAP and how it relates to Active directory in a 200 word summary.
1-5. Explain Kerberos and its purpose in Active directory in a 300 word summary.
Part 2
2-1. Research user account objects in Active Directory. What restrictions apply to user account objects? In a
one page essay, discuss the user account naming scheme for a global organization. How would a naming
structure differ in Singapore? How would alphabetizing the user name list differ in Asia?
